Christmas present for ME!! Awww you shouldn't have!!

Okay, this isn't anything mini related but I just wanted to share this anyways. :)
My gf let me open one of my presents early today. *jumps up and down with joy* ahem..okay moving on. So, it turns out she went to an antique store and picked up a Stein for me. After doing a bit of research it looks like it's an earthenware stein made between 1949-1990 in West Germany. It's my first Stein and I'm about to sit back relax and enjoy a Franzishaner Weissbier out of it.

Here's a few updated pics of the Nurgle Chaos Lord as well. disregard my hand in the background ;)

Christmas presents update (better pics & new WIP)

So, my girlfriend came over with her awesome camera and took some photos of the minis. We tried taking some pics inside at first and my lighting and setup just wasn't working for what she wanted. So we went outside and used natural lighting..funny how things in life that are free are the best resources. She was pressed for time so all we did was just use a paper towel for a difuser (sp?) from direct sunlight. Worked out pretty damn good if I do say so. Hope these pics are a bit easier on your eyes than my previous :)

Capt Lysander

Here is another mini I've pretty much completed except for the eyes and filling in the hole near his foot. This will be a Christmas present for my dad. He's never played warhammer and will not know what to think I'm sure when I tell him this is a space marine..but I think he will enjoy the mini still the same and appreciate it. Originally I had planned on doing OSL on the back of the wall and on the floor. It didn't go so well first try..sooo said hell with it and just repainted the floor and wall. It was one of those times I reallllly needed an airbrush. This mini, although has alot of details was a lot of fun to paint considering the deadline I'm on. Painted him in pretty much one day/night except for the having to add the OSL on the his hammer. Here you go. Enjoy! :)

Christmas present! yayyyy!!

Well I decided this yr to make presents for my family, close friends and my gf. In total I think I'm working on five miniatures at the same time. Never thought I could do it but if I pull it off that will be a total of six minis I've completed in one month..to think it took me three months to paint a mini over a yr ago. Of course I'm not able to paint these minis to my normal standard but I think over all the final product will be quite pleasant. So without any further delays..here is the WIP for my nephew. He's only eleven so I thought it would be cool to make a scene with a gnome in a dungeon..this is my second "true" attempt at OSL. my first was the miner and I think my second attempt looks much better. *shrugs* it's not the cleanest paint job..but you get the over all affect...

Nurgle Chaos Lord

It's been a while since I've posted anything. I've had a lot happen in between postings..For one my mom unfortunately succumbed to cancer and she ended her fight Sept of this yr. She will be missed but never forgotten. "I love you mom!" It was hard for me to come back to painting since the last mini I had painted was for my mom before she passed. So it was rough for me to sit back down. But just like most things in time...I was able to sit down and just press on. Here is a Nurgle Chaos Lord I recently completed. As usual I'm sorry for the crappy pics. I'm using my camera phone until I have my GF bring her awesome camera over or I get one for Christmas..pretty sure that wont happen though for the present haha. The lighting really doesn't show the highlights and shadows of the skin..trust me its there. Hope you enjoy it and maybe it will give you some ideas and inspiration.

Oh btw! the base I made using a combination of cork board and some plaster rocks i had molded. For the puss bubbles I used a necklace beads and for the smaller ones I used the small balls from a Brita water filter. Just slopped on some putty in random spots..placed the balls on the putty and voila! After all said and done with painting just used some water affects and lightly brushed over the green parts to make it look slimy. For the mud I mixed real earth (dirt) with water affects and mixture of scorched brown and black to make look somewhat like mud. I'm still not happy with it so might back and add a bit of water affects in random spots to make the mud look more wet.
