Chaos Knight cont.

So I've finished the assembling of the steed and knight for most part. I'm leaving his shield off and one of the reigns for the horse so will be able to reach the areas underneath. I did run into a snag while assembling the horse...and I wasn't too happy. It's nothing major like a missing part or huge air bubble on a corner piece. What it is was though is one of the reigns was longer than needed. Now I looked back over the mount and was looking if I didn't fit something correctly or not enough. Only thing found was that might have helped to improve the fitting of the reign is the trimming the collar underneath the horses neck. There's a small gap I could have maybe shaved but I would have also had to cut the inside of it as well a good amount. This gap though was only a couple of centimeters. The reign however is a 1/4 too long...that's rite a frickn 1/4 of an inch!!!!

That's ridiculous. Not sure how this happened..but no use crying over spilled milk. Only thing I could do was trim the reign. For the most part I'm pleased with it for now. I've filled in the gaps and after sanding everything and smoothing I'll work some more on it and make it look more uniform with the miniature. For now here are some before and after pics of the horse with the gaps to show what I had to fill.

Chaos Knight

Yayyyyyy! I came home  yesterday just in time for the mail to arrive. Why so happy you say? No I didn't win the publishers clearing house. My Chaos Knight miniature from CMON arrived. This is a limited edition miniature that was created by a master sculpture the name of Pedro Fernandez. He has done many fabulous sculptures over the years and this one is another to add to the pile of amazing pieces he has made. This sculpture however is not your standard 28-32mm miniature. The 72mm miniature (not sure if that's still classified as a miniature *shrugs*) stands over 4 inches tall (4-1/8 from what I measured). It consists of 13 pieces and very detailed. Below are pics I took last night while starting to prep it.

Here's how the miniature was in the box.

Very well packaged.

Two of the pieces were even bubble wrapped which I had to be very careful not to break or cut the miniature since I was like a kid Christmas morning wanting to tear through the box to see what was inside.

Okay here are all of the pieces to the miniature after everything is removed from packaging. Overall I was very pleased with the way the cast looked. Plus nothing was broken or warped.

I did find some mold lines on a few places that was rather difficult to remove at times. But it's expected and not something to get too upset over..after all this hobby you have to be prepared to cut, sand, even sculpt before you can lay down paint. Plus if you don't have the patience for any of this you might want to hang up the brush and do something else you would enjoy that doesn't require as much attention.

I was up well past my bed time last night sanding, fitting all the pieces. I've removed all the mold lines and started assembly of the horse. Maybe tonight I will mess with him some more. It's already getting late and I have to be up early so not sure if will get around to it tonight. Bah what the hey it's only 9:30 I have some time. Tomorrow I'll try to post some pics of the model assembled. Next begins the filling gaps and such. Still undecided on how I want to do the base. I'm thinking though of trying to find a piece of stump or some wood that can be salvaged and used to create some dark scene..he is a chaos knight after all. Didn't think I was going to paint him with flowers and rainbows did you?  ;)

Hobby room WIP

It's been long over due and I finally was able to start on my hobby room today and get everything organized (somewhat). After moving and realizing how much room I was going to have just for my hobby I was left with a big soooo where do I begin on putting stuff?? Before that was easy...anywhere I could find space. In a walk in closet you can't be too picky. Decided to stop by Wal-Mart aka Wally World to the locals. Picked up two more organizing cabinets, and a spiffy new $19.99 chair. When I started to bring the cabinets in my room it hit me! Mac Gyver moment!!! Took my box cutter put some holes in the corners on the bottom of one and top of the other cabinet..used some picture hanging wire to tie them together and BAM! Okay, so it wasn't something extremely hard but still I used my noggin. *drools* huh what..oh yeah. Hopefully I can start on one of my many projects I had at the last place. Not sure where to start as of yet. Without further a dew (sp?) here is recent pics of my new evil laboratory!! Mwuahahaha!

A few pics of my current projects and some completed ones as well in the mix..

long time no post

To all my fans you know who you are...*points to my only two followers* I haven't had much time to post anything or work on any minis for that matter due to moving into my new place. The good thing about that is I have a wholllllllle bunch of space now for my hobby room. No more sitting in a closet painting. Nope now I have a room just for my minis...mwahaha!! After everything is setup and organized I will post a few pics of my new area. But in the mean time I was wasting some time emptying pics from my phone and I stumbled upon a miniature I was working on. It's the gunslinger from *I think* Wyrd games company. It's a great sculpt that is solid. So no pinning..just prep and paint. Voila! He was coming along quite nicely. Looking forward to completing him.
