Warpriest WIP

Well after a rather stressful day at work. I decided to sit down and just try to finish a miniature I had sitting around. I didn't want to worry about trying to achieve a well blended mini. All I wanted to do was work on color tones and make the base and miniature compliment each other. This miniature is a Warpriest from Gamesworkshop company. I've always wanted to do a Warpriest scene as if he's summoning his powers from *thinks for a minute* oh whatever it is he summons his powers from and makes his eyes and mace glow bright firery orange. So I decided to do a scene with this one as if he's in a tainted land with undead all around and he's getting ready to SMITE them!! Of course on my base you only see the priest and a few remains laying around. BUT you could see he's getting ready to open a can of whoop arss on someone by the way he's holding his book out..mace up in the air and well haven't got to the part where his eyes or mace glow..but hey sounds cool rite..rite!!? no..well okay.

Unfortunately I had a bad time taking pics tonight. The colors are rather muted and I wasn't able to get the mini to show up that well. Tried using the GFs new camera and man the colors/brightness are way off. Its not her camera I'm sure. It's me...I suck at taking pics. Ok enough typing..here's what I have so far on this mini.

Here's a few top side pics of the mini I painted the other day. Like said earlier colors are off. Hopefully it doesn't look that bad.

Painting with friends

So today was the first time I've painted with friends. Was rather nice actually. Wasn't in a small stuffy room with only my clothes and tight spaces to keep me company. My goal was to start and complete a mini in the session today. Unfortunately I wasn't able to complete the mini before my friends left BUT I did achieve my goal in finishing the mini. It's not the greatest since it was a start to finish in seven hours..but oh well. It was fun never the less. These are the only pics was able to take before the camera decided to take a nose dive on battery life. Hope to get better ones tomorrow..or whenever get around to it.

Oh BTW here is a pic of me hard at work!!

Champion of Nurgle WIP

Here's a WIP of my Champion of Nurgle. This was a freebie from a friend of mine that previously painted and used back in his Warhammer Days of Glory! After a long bath in Pine Sol and heavily scrubbing with my no longer in commission tooth brush I was able to clean up most of the mini. Missed a few spots left under his chin..but what the hey..he's nurgle it'll look natural. Still have more to do on the base and I'm wanting to add some more flare to the pike..maybe some decayed ribbons. *shrugs*

So what if you got Halo Reach..Space Marines kick @$$

Ok, so mayyyybe I have been very slacked when it comes to posting my WIPs on here...*Looks at work bench* 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, oh blah I give up. Too many that's how many. Well I did manage to take some pics today of my nephews present. I was up until 2:30 A.M. painting the marine and prepping the base. For some reason I just so happen to have a lighhhhht bulb around 11 last night. It just hit me..hey instead of buying your nephew something just paint a mini for him. Well I springed into action. Snips were cutting sprues, sand paper was flying all over the place..joint compound was getting slopped all over the base and I was throwing anything from the bits box I could find into it. After all was said and done and rushing home today to throw some dirt on the base and painting it while the glue was still drying and having to paint the base as well only to have to add some more highlights after the matte finish dulled the blending and made me want to pull what's left of my hair out only to to get everything together and put in a box and package carefully rush over the parents house watch him open present after present then to get to finally get the present I brought him only to *GASPs for AIR!!!* look at it and say uhh so what is it..then stare at it like rain man trying to figure out if this is his real present. So I then say remember it's those miniatures I paint and he says oh from that game...I just nod and say yeah that's it. *bangs head on keyboard* So after opening some cards he got and a few checks to cash..what's this you say..one more present. He begins to open the carefully wrapped package. Light shines down from the heavens upon this little child and all of a sudden you'd think he was having a seizure he starts bouncing up and down in his chair screaming YES!!! YES!! Well everyone looks at each in the room and says guess all we had to do is pitch in for that game and that would of saved us some trouble...Ok one day I'm going to teach this kid to do something besides click a damn controller button and know more than me about hand to hand combat and every dang gun there is. Stupid video games...know if you excuse me I have to go play some Killzone 3! Oh yeah! Here's the pics of the mini I painted for him. Enjoy :)

Off to a bad start

Well I found out THE HARD WAY that painting a 70mm miniature is just a tad bit more difficult than a 28mm miniature. I think I stayed up past 1:30AM (I'm hard headed) trying to get his skin rite. Today I came home with the determination that this is it..I'm going to finish up his skin and start on the rest...well after a couple hrs go by I wasn't happy with the way things were going..again! So I throw down a fresh base coat and start trying some experimental colors/mixes/blending etc. It wasn't going near the way I had hoped (suprise!)..so I figured hmm what the hell lets try a wash of Ogryn Flesh. HOLYYY $*%#!!! He came out looking like a really well done Native American with the look of "it's pay back time!" Soooo here we are..two days of carefully blending colors, working highlights just to wind up in the mason jar full of Pine Sol to strip the paint. What to do now you ask? Hrmmm went to the fridge grabbed a nice ice cold beer and started prepping another miniature to get my mind back somewhat in creative mode. Not like I don't have 4 or 5 miniatures already based, painted and waiting to be finished. No thank you! I'll step away from the paint for tonight and just get messy with basing. Which reminds me..think I'll post some pics of my previous work (completed and some not so completed). Here's one of them I did about 6 months ago. Was trying to improve on my blending techniques..This is a miniature by Scribor Miniatures. Great sculpt and was alot of fun to paint.

Punisher WIP

Okay well this will be my first post and what better way to start than with a work in progress of my Punisher miniature. This will be my first attempt at a miniature other than the standard 28-32 mm miniatures. Out of the box I immediately knew this was going to be a fun sculpt. Not to mention it's the Punisher! Assembly was fairly easy. His arm holding the shotgun is the only piece that required some filling. The other arm with his pistol fit like a champ after just a few swipes with the file. I pinned both arms and used Krazy glue to help hold.  I wanted to add a bit more to the base so I grabbed the cutters and went to town on a paper clip. Filed the edges from the cut marks so it would help resemble bullet casings. So far for the painting all I have done is done a base coat of black for the clothing and weapons. For the skin I first used medium sea grey. Next was three to four coats of beige brown. Hopefully tomorrow I can really get some work done on this BA dude! Until then have fun and go slap some paint around.
